Martha’s Vineyard for Thanksgiving Part 2 of 2
Martha’s Vineyard is a wonderful place to spend the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend. In addition to the Thanksgiving meal, there are many things to do and places to see on the island. Although some people may be under the false impression that Martha’s Vineyard is a ghost town once the summer season ends, that could not be farther from the truth. For example, you can enjoy the music by the Flying Elbows at The Fall Festival at Felix Neck. There’s a ton more that this festival has to offer.
Marla Isaac, of New England Reptile and Raptors will be returning to The Fall Festival at Felix Neck this year. She always excites the crowds with a number of birds of prey including an osprey and different types of owls. Make sure to bundle up because the Fall Festival is outdoors, and it tends to get a wee bit chilly in Martha’s Vineyard during the late Autumn.
After the festival ends, you can head out for a fun late lunch at the Wharf, Offshore Ale, or the Newes. All three (3) restaurants are nice places to visit after being out in the cold for a few hours.
The Saturday after Thanksgiving is the last day of the year that the Wee Farmers at FARM Institute is open. It’s a great place to see if you have young children. Your little ones, from the ages of 2-4 years old will absolutely love this place. The children adore the Wee Farmers at FARM Institute because they get to see and even pet the baby farm animals, which are far less intimidating then the full-sized versions. In addition, your kids are not only allowed, but encouraged to collect eggs from the chickens. Admission is only $15 per child.
Last but certainly not least, Martha’s Vineyard is a gorgeous place to simply explore during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. You can take a nature walk, or even collect seashells on one of the many beaches that this island paradise is famous for. There’s something magical about Martha’s Vineyard in the late fall, and the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend is the perfect time to experience everything that the island has to offer.
It’s always a smart idea to rent a vehicle when visiting Martha’s Vineyard for the Thanksgiving holiday. You and your family can get around easily when you rent a car, truck, or SUV, and see whatever sights you want on your own schedule.
